Shining Fury - Another Life
![]() If you have a thing going on for double bass drumming, orgasm is guaranteed with Shining Fury. Actually it can be almost too much of that when the song melody goes in one tempo and the drums speed away in their totally own world, as in Another Life. Otherwise the chorus in this song is among the best and the small tendencies to involve oriental tones somewhere in the middle should have been explored further. Fransesco Neretti sounds a bit strained sometimes in his singing. A bit more edge and fury in his voice would probably do the music good. There is also something missing in the frequent guitar solos - a bit more soul and feeling and less cold technique perhaps. The heavy riffs of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde make it my number two favorite on the record. But otherwise there is not much to say about the average power metal song material. Metalium got infamous for their double bass version of Smoke On The Water. That did apparently not teach Shining Fury any lesson. They do their own power metal version of Highway Star. Actually it is not bad at all, and the bass drum is for once spared to the end of the song. But of course it is not Deep Purple and it will probably not be accepted by the hardcore fans of the heavy metal pioneers.
