Illusion Of Clarity - Ambivalent Existence
Another of those bands that make the life of a reviewer hard by refusing to confess themselves to a single genre This record presents four quite long compositions with many different faces in tempo, melody and style - in other words, progressive. Faceless starts with about three minutes of not very original power metal, before it turns into some more exciting solo parts. Legacy Of A Cold Heart starts with an acoustical part before some heavy thrash riffs takes over. They are all colourful songs, but Unconscious Minds becomes my favourite, simply because it has got the strongest chorus. The strength of Illusion Of Clarity lies in the classical metal riffs and great neo-classical guitar solos. However, a little more power in Patrik Forsbergs voice would be nice. Now he sounds like Joacim Cans with a severe cold, at least in the higher tones. It works fine in the softer intro/outro parts of Legacy Of A Cold Heart though. The production is rather professional for a demo. If you live nearby Stockholm you'll probably be able to check out Illusion of Clarity at Pub Anchor now and then.
