Cosmo is a band that has existed in 15 years but this
is actually their first album. The main reason for this is probably
because the members been busy elsewhere most of the time. If the name
Cosmo sounds familiar to you it might just be due to the fact that vocalist
Fran Cosmo has been a member of Boston since 1983. During that time
Boston has recorded three albums and also done some touring. With Cosmo
he has joined forces with his son Antonio who plays the guitar and both
father and son has contributed with the song writing for Alien.
The musical aspect of Cosmo has not much to do with Boston
though. Their melodic and modern rock has got some similarities with
the softer side of Audioslave. If you modernise the sound of Blue Öyster
Cult you also might have a clue of what we find on this recording. Personally
I find this kind of music utterly boring but even if I look beyond my
personal taste I can't find a single reason why someone should invest
in this record. Sure, it's very well executed but that doesn't really
matter when the melodies fall flat in almost every composition. There
are a lot of better albums in the same genre out there today so I advise
you to skip this one.
