Just in the old saint nick of time to satisfy your still
hungry shopping lust and base needs, a paragon of faithful tidings of
joy is here. This sonic blizzard of oddities must satiate your material
cravings, and a serve as a most befitting gift for the mettle in us
all, and our ilk of human kindness. Are you searching in vain for the
perfect twisted Christmas treat for fellow headbangers, at a fair price?
Then this unholiday offering will whet your appetite. It is time to
spread holiday jeer and grim fool tidings, so come out and playfully
lend an ear; pay heed, because in today's mass market of consumption
and buy or die mentality, heroes are hard to find. Yeah right! Twisted
Sister - those bad boys of rock 'n roll have returned ready to descant
the halycon lore by ringing the silver bells of satan merry. Like a
knife in the back of Santa, these fathers of the kids are back, blastin'
fast and loud, ready to rip and tear it loose. As father Christmas passes
over the cities on his wild hunt, the destroyes of sanity will slay,
ride, and place him under the blade; thereby hanging, stalking, and
shredding, accordingly. What you don't know (Santa) - sure can hurt
you!
Yes, with Twisted Sister, the power and the glory glistens
as bright as the yellow snow. These white pissed mystics of makeup and
melody again prove that the fire still burns, and you can't stop rock
'n roll! Daniel Dee Snider - the desperado himself, no longer feels
the passion or desire for creating new big hits or nasty cuts; his once
overwhelming angst and alacrity for writing novel material, sadly has
waned. Still he had a killer solution, he convinced his fellow sick
merry frolickers to record a very heavy Christmas album, metalizing
the classics. With this endeavour, the leader of the pack has truly
succeeded. There have always been some excellent Christmas rock renditions;
especially Tran-Siberian Orchestra with the amazing talent of Paul O'Neill.
The new Blackmore's Night - Winter Carols, is quite good too, but they
ultimately uphold the basic holiday tradition; not Twisted Sister. The
yule-tides are turning, and definitely for the better!
Consider the single Oh Come All Ye Faithful, for which
the widowmaker realized resembles note for note Twisted Sister's hit
- We're Not Gonna Take It. The commencement even includes the trademark
drum intro and recognizable tremelo bar mid-break solo. There are two
video versions which you can view at You-Tube or their Myspace page.
The longer version even alludes to the original '80s video standard;
while the abreviated animated version will appeal to the child in us
all. The SMF's never say never motif follows through with even heavier
holiday spirit. I'll Be Home For Christmas includes singing by lady
Lita Ford as it mirrors the ballad The Price; meanwhile, Let It Snow
will have you recalling Rock 'N Roll Saviors. White Christmas is replete
with Maidenesque galloping; and Deck The Halls easily channels War Pigs
by Black Sabbath, with a hint of Never Say Die, and an interlude for
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen added for good measure. Silver Bells has
a solid AC/DC high voltage shock with its Problem Child holiday party
punch. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause is essentially You've Got Another
Thing Coming by Judas Priest. The real metal anthem for this time of
year has to be Heavy Metal Christmas. This is up there with the echelon
of King Diamond's No Presents For Christmas, Tankard's Fuck Christmas,
or Stryper's Winter Wonderland. With this paradigm, Twisted Sister have
hell bent the lyrics of the 12 Days Of Christmas into: "Five skull
earrings, four quarts of Jack, three studded belts, two pairs of spandex
pants, and a tattoo of Ozzy...".
After hearing this CD several times over given its brevity,
man, I Wanna Rock! Sisters of steel and Brothers of bedlam, bang your
egg noggins! Talk about your season's beating and hippy holly daze!
Rumor has it that the success of this release has already laid the foundation
for a sequel, what a wonderful lie?. So from all of us here at Metal
Covenant , have yourself a very heavy metal Christmas, and if you like
this, let us know!
