John Arch - A Twist Of Fate
![]() 16 Years after vocalist John Arch left Fates Warning and music in general behind he returns with an album that holds two track with a total running time of 28 minutes. After saying no to Jim Matheos to an appearance on an album with O.S.I he later changed his mind and contacted Matheos about a project on his own, and thank God for that. The collaboration with Jim Matheos (Fates Warning, O.S.I.) included Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, O.S.I) and Joey Vera (Fates Warning, Armored Saint, Seven Witches, Engine) and that resulted in Twist Of Fate. The first track Relentless written by Arch/Matheos is a progressiv song in the vein of both the old and new Fates Warning that sucks you in and devours you totally. Blending beautiful vocallines, heavy guitarparts with a powerful chorus it has all you could ask for within the boarders of progressivemetal. The second track Cheyenne written solely by Arch is calmer and feels more orchestrated and not as progressive as Relentless, but still a very good song that remind me alot of the older Fates Warning. On the downside is the fact that this is it for now, A Twist Of Fate is not an EP with tracks from the forthcoming album, beacuse this is all we gonna get at the time. One can always hope that John Arch feels like doing more
music one day, feels almost evil of him to make two great songs like
this and then leaving us wanting more when there is no more to come.
