US street date August 5th via Republic Records.
Godsmack equals massively driven rock music that really
sets your body in motion and your emotions on fire. It's heavy and has
an immensely captivating groove. The band is able to push the songs
forward without putting too much detail into them and I believe that
they keep the flame alive and burning during the major share of this
album. It's pretty much a salute to attacking and barging rock music
and it makes you wanna stay put in front of your audio system and just
breathe in what's coming out of the speakers.
The record's song material isn't specifically varied and
it's undeniably not a record filled with diversity in its totality,
as far as I'm concerned. This is nothing that however bothers me the
least, because most of the record is really arresting, energetic and
rocking and I absolutely find myself nailed to the music during this
accurate punch in the face-attitude record. Sully Erna's empathic and
outspoken vocals are utterly still a force to be reckoned with and I
think that his performance comes out as a powerful injection on top
of the heavy appearance.
I consider this to be one of the greatest Godsmack albums
to this very day. Most of the past work also have somewhat of an impact,
but is not downright striking to the same extent as this new release
is and it doesn't possess the same amount of killing material. 1000HP
indeed has a larger number of songs in the list that could be named
awesome and attractive. I realize that a lot of people will strongly
disagree with that point of view, but I'll still be handing out 8 chalices
to what I believe is a great record.
