Best albums

- Persuader - When Eden Burns
Who cares that Blind Guardian failed in their progression when we have a band that sounds like Imaginations From The Other Side all over, and with almost the same high quality.

- Sabaton - Attero Dominatus
Sabaton followed up their breakthrough Primo Victoria with this twin album. Just as high standard as on its brother in war.

- Bullet - Heading For The Top
With a metal taken straight from the early 80's, Bullet has given us what we have missed since then.

- Iron Maiden - A Matter Of Life And Death
This might seem as a standard vote, but for me this is one of the surprises on this list. I have never really understood why Maiden sits on the metal throne, but I just can't stop listen to AMOLAD. Not a single bad track!

- Hammerfall - Threshold
Hammerfall tried some new grips on this one. Not all of them worked, but the result is nevertheless another strong album.

Runner ups:
Raise Hell - City Of The Damned, Amon Amarth - With Oden On Our Side, Narnia - Enter The Gate, Sodom - Sodom, Motörhead - Kiss Of Death

Biggest disappointments

- Virgin Steele - Visions Of Eden
Not even near to live up to the high expectations after all this waiting. Lame and without power.

- The length of Stryper's gig at Gullbranna
I thought they were joking when they said goodbye after less than an hour.

- David Coverdale's voice at Sweden Rock Festival, and all the solos that tried to cover for its breakdown.

- My German favorites continued on last year's bad trend to release dull albums. This time Blind Guardian, Rage and Edguy.

Happiest/biggest news

- Motörhead and U.D.O. to Sweden Rock 2007
With these bands on the bill it can be no less than success. They always deliver. And - of course - Heaven And Hell, the best Black Sabbath there is.

- I beat my own record in number of concerts. This year's 77 is far better than 64 during 2005.

Best live concerts

- Def Leppard - Sweden Rock Festival
I was disappointed ten years ago, when I saw them on the Slang tour. Therefore I didn't dare to expect too much of my old heroes. Especially not after the horrible cover album Yeah!. But these guys still can rock! And the setlist was almost as chosen by me. Or what can you say about a complete knockout trio like Let It Go, Rock Rock (Til You Drop) and Saturday Night (High 'n' Dry) to start with. Two songs from High 'n' Dry - and neither of them was Bringing On The Heartbreak! Or the final with Wasted!

- Stryper - Gullbranna
Everything except for the length... Michael Sweets sings like a God… 's man. Tight as hell! And an energy not of this world.

- Deep Purple - Sweden Rock Festival
I did not appreciate their long jam show at all at Sweden Rock 1999. Since then I have learned to understand the greatness of Purple. This was a solid cavalcade of hits. A bit short though.

- Ted Nugent - Sweden Rock Festival
Yet another one of those I've seen before, without being too impressed. But what an energy kick this time with the Huge Nuge.

- Persuader - 34000 Ton Metal
Album of the year, song of the year and one of the five best performances of the year. Persuader rocks!
