Suffocation became the arguably most influential band
in the emerging scene of technical and brutal death metal bands in the
early 90's. Most influential bands eventually find themselves surpassed
by younger acts building on the legacy of their forerunners. Suffocation
is a notable exception and has released a tremendous string of albums
since 1991. '
Of the Dark Light' is not their strongest album to
date, but that says more about their enormous standard of songwriting.
With Suffocation we know what we get and we love them for it.
