Jeff Waters has tried to return to the first couple of
albums in the catalogue and claims that he has played most stuff on
the record himself just to get the old feeling back. But hasn't he pretty
much always played the majority of the music himself and hasn't this
thing been a sort of solo effort for a very long time already?
He is quite successful in capturing the right atmosphere
and the Annihilator sound is surely there, yet he cannot manage to deliver
great material this time and I actually think that the so called ballads
are among the better tracks on a couple of the most recent albums and
that's maybe not what you want to write about a thrash metal band.
No Jeff, you can do better than what you're showing us
on For The Demented. A decent record in the end, but clearly nothing
that will count as one of the greatest when everything eventually will
be summarized some day in the future.
