I am yet not that familiar with Mors Principium Est's
earlier work, even though I am somewhat a follower and an appreciator
of the genre in general. Within this style of music, there is a fine
line between being groovy and interesting and being just plain boring
and pretentious. Mors Principium Est indeed manage to stay interesting
throughout this album with catchy and dynamic songs in a mostly determined
and captivating tempo.
There are a couple of cuts that roll along somewhat unnoticed,
but also a good deal of stand-out tracks with character. The great vocals,
the fitting and effectful use of somber keyboards and choirs and the
production are also worth an extra mention. A solid and enjoyable effort.
