Seventh Wonder release party

I went to Seventh Wonders releaseparty not knowing exactly what to expect. I had beforehand downloaded and listened to the samples on the bands' website, which didn't give away too much but still showed the core of the music. I thought it was promising, so I went to this event. I usually don't listen to much progressive metal, except for one or two mandatory Dream Theater cd's.

Pub Anchor was by the time we got there not full but not empty either, you had to use some sideway-walking. Ok, free food and free drinks, yikes! This must be heaven! We met the bassplayer Andreas Blomqvist which came and gave me a promo cd and talked a bit. The bands' families seemed to be on place to support their loved ones. Even their girlfriends came and talked to us to make sure we were comfortable and asked us about what we do and such. What striked me the most was that they were so nice and one after another came and talked to us.

In time for the appointed gig we stood ready in front of the stage to inhale some music, unfortunately they only soundchecked first and went of stage again. The only annoying thing this evening was the wait, but it was worth it. You could see the nervousness in some of the members and especially in Tommy, as this was his first gig with the band. But they did great, the sound wasn't perfect but what can you expect from such a small place?

They managed to gather a fairly big audience and the response was good. As for the performance, its hard to gig in such a small place so all they could do was stand still and bang with their heads, which they did. All the musicians did good and I especially liked the drums.

If you like progressive, power, heavy, and most important, new interesting metal, you should give Seventh Wonder a chance.

(Sorry, no setlist)
