Saturday night in Stockholm and about 1500 people have entered the venue to see this sleaze / hard rock act from Göteborg (Gothenburg). Even though Hardcore Superstar reached their creative peak with their self titled album from 2005, more and more people are coming to their shows for every new release. This show is the final show on this tour leg and the band seems focused to end this leg with a bang.
They start the show with a couple of songs from their latest release, Split Your Lip. The band is tight and you can easily see that guitarist Vic Zino has found his position in the band, which happens to be up front with lead singer, Jocke. The rhythm section is solid during the whole show. They seem to enjoy every second on stage and the crowd is following every move. A pair of songs from the self titled album and a pair from Bad Sneakers are played. All songs are well received by the crowd, who is singing and shouting to every tune. Most of the crowd tonight is in their high teens and it usually means that it's easier for the band to please the people on the floor though.
Tonight's set is partly picked to promote the new album and partly picked to play it safe. We get seven songs from Split Your Lip and just as many from the self titled one. I would have preferred if they would let go a bit of their six year old album and focus a bit more on their latest releases. We only get three songs in total from Beg For It and Dreamin' In A Casket.
The first encore for tonight, is the new single, Moonshine. A song that
gets a good piece of radiotime in their native Sweden. They close the
set with one of their biggest hits and the crowd up front goes insane
during the last five minutes. This show was a great performance from the
band that just received the award for best Swedish group on the Bandit
Radio Rock Awards. If they just would rearrange their setlist a bit, they
would probably be getting an even higher score.
