Hammerfall

To celebrate the release of HammerFall's eighth full length studio album, Infected, two release parties have been announced in Sweden. The first one is located at Debaser Slussen in Stockholm and the second one at Sticky Fingers in Göteborg. According to the band, this will be an opportunity for the band to meet and talk to their fans in person and a chance to get some good PR for the new album.

There is an age limit at the venue set to 18, so their younger fans will have to stay at home tonight though. About four hundred people shows up tonight and the venue is full to four fifths. The new album has received mostly good reviews by the critics and tonight they will get a chance to play the new songs live to see what the reaction from the audience will be.

The band opens up this show with four straight songs from Infected, which all go down well with the crowd. On this club stage, they are doing a great job, even if there is limited space up there. The band and the crowd enjoys these new songs and I think all four of them will be played on their forthcoming tour. The guys are in a great mood and lead singer, Joacim, is doing his best to please the crowd between the songs. He is actually quite successful and we all get a good laugh occasionally.

The continue the set with two of their greatest hits, Hearts On Fire and Blood Bound, which makes the fans up front go wild. The sound quality in the venue is great and it is remarkable that it can be so good at this club. A pair of songs more are played before they leave the stage after about 45 minutes. Two encores are played and they close the set with Let The Hammer Fall. A song that the band enjoys, but is certainly not one of their better ones.

After seeing HammerFall on bigger stages for a decade now, it was enjoyable to see them back on a club stage again. The energy from the band was significant throughout the whole show and even if this set was short and just a teaser of what's to come, I think all who where there were satisfied with their performance.
