Venue: KB
Date: 11 January 2010
The Black Dahlia Murder set length: 60 minutes
Rest of the bands set length: 25 minutes

Under the common banner of Bonecrusher
Fest, The Black Dahlia Murder alongside no less than 6 other bands are
wreaking havoc over Europe during January. Malmö's KB was treated
to some great performances last Monday.

Ingested
The beginning of the evening started bad - due to transport problems I
totally missed Ingested's set. Logically there will be no rating of this
band.

Carnifex
Holy mother! The brutality of this bands music is just staggering. Led
in the onslaught by the man screaming like an angry bear, Scott Lewis,
Ingested kicks off by playing really aggressive. And then they keep turning
the aggressionswitch with each song. This band is very new to my ears,
but I'm very impressed by the band's performance this night. The sound
isn't 100 %, but the energy of this band blows both me and the audience
away.

The Faceless
The issues with the sound are fixed in such a way that when the
progressive death metalband The Faceless take to the stage the sound is
just perfect. I've listened to The Faceless latest release "Planetary
Duality" quite a few times, but the band that I see this night is
just so much better than the record would suggest. I'm not kidding when
I say that the 25 minutes the band is onstage might just happen to find
its way into the top 10 concerts of 2010. The band is just totally focused
- the drummer Lyle Cooper seems to be in another realm entirely; his eyes
reveal nothing but sheer determination, and the singer almost seems to
be about to explode. Add to this the fantastic stringwork by bassist Brandon
Griffin and guitarists Michael Keene and Steve Jones and you have a reviewer
that's left stupefied by the onslaught of this band.

Obscura
When a bassist is using a fretless 6-string bass, you know
you're in for a treat - especially when it's handled by Jeroen Paul Thesseling
of Obscura. The band's music would normally have me banging my head off
- technical death metal usually does that - but somehow Obscura's show
doesn't really take off for me this evening, perhaps since I'm totally
flabbergasted by The Faceless. Still, if you're into technical death metal
executed with finesse - Obscura is a band you'll want to check out.

Necrophobic
As with most tour packages you know that there is going to be at least
one band that you aren't going to like. For me thae band to fill the do
not like spot is swedish Necrophobic. Really boring songs that all sound
just the same as the previous, a not up to par drummer plus a singer that
really ought to think about dropping that mike-stand. I'm bored from song
two and wait out the remainder of the concert in the bar.

3 Inches Of Blood
Looking for a band that has a singer overdosing on Judas
Priest and Accept? 3 Inches Of Blood easily fills that spot. Holy mother,
Cam Pipes has a vocal rage in the higher echelons if I ever heard one!
The band's party heavy metal nicely mixed up with some more speed metal
elements surely gets me going since the band is really good in connecting
with the crowd and has enough distance to itself - a fact that has me
grinning for the entire concert.

The Black Dahlia Murder
Led onto the stage by Trevor Strnad, The Black Dahlia Murder unleashes
their death metal with total confidence. The moshpit is intense from the
first song, the crowdsurfing and stagediving as well. The band triggers
the audience, that trigger the band into an ecstatic state of being. The
concert simply is so damn good: good songs, good execution and an enthusiastic
crowd makes The Black Dahlia Murder's concert a good ending to the evening.
