The classic band UFO is back with a couple a new members added to their line-up, guitar virtuous Vinnie Moore and drummer Jason Bonham are new to the band and they hardly need any introductions.
You Are Here is produced by Tommy Newton (Victory, Gamma Ray, Ark, Helloween) and with him as a producer and the new guys in the band I got my expectations up only to be disappointed.
I got to be honest and say that my knowledge about UFO is poor and Doctor, Doctor is more or less the only track I can pull out of the UFO hat, but you got to start to learn sometime, and better late than never.

Old school straight out of the eighties melodic hard rock, great to hear some back to basics again and although it is much of the eighties it doesnt feels like an attempt to grab after what is lost, it stands good in this time of age as well. The start with Daylight Goes To Town gives me good feeling, a tasteful mid-tempo track with some bluesy touches. The rougher and heavier Black Cold Coffee still with bluesy touches is also a good song but there is something missing.
Although you can hear the professionalism from the band there is something essential missing as it sounds uninspired at many times, some of the tracks breath life through guitar solos or harmony parts but that doesnt save it from being tiring and mostly boring.

In the end when all comes around it is hard to see how this could be any better than an simple ok, decent music but the songmaterial isn't nearly good enough, and the slower songs and ballads are at some points just too cheesy for me.
It is decent music to play in the background but to be honest I was expecting much more from these guys, good musicianship but that helps little when the material lacks in quality.

So when I go to see them live at Sweden Rock Festival this summer it is to see them performing the older stuff rather than songs from this album.
