I got both Stormbringer Ruler and their previous album Dragonlord at the same time without having heard a single tone of the band before. Two hours later after a serious listening session I found myself grinning like a fool and having goose-bumps all over.

This is true powermetal with strong and impressive guitar riffs a l'a Blind Guardian in their earliest but with a clear individual sound. The riffs are simply amazing and strongly pounding during the verses and the solos and intros are even more excellent. Morby's singing is fabulous and he really knows how a true metalsinger should sound. The lyrics and the music itself is very fantasy- epic based and man do these guys know how to make a chorus that blows your head off!

My personal favourite tracks of the album would be all of them but if only a few have to be mentioned it's The Hurricane Master, Horn of Fate, The Ride of the Valkyries, True Leader of Men and The Bearer of the Black Sword.

The other not-mentioned ones are really great too but the ballad For Evermore is the only thing that's stopping me from giving this album a full 10 chalices out of 10. The combination ballad and metal doesn't appeal me and although it's a good one, powermetal is powermetal and nothing else! The production is very good but could perhaps be a little bit better and it probably will too in a future that shines like a beacon in the night for Domine.

If you like epic powermetal and have a clue about how great italian music of this genre is at it's very best you definetely have to check these guys out. Stormbringer Ruler is absolutely one of THE albums to have in a real powermetal collection!
