Last time I heard this Finnish band, Ikinae, was after their self-released debut Lucky Seven. I remember their music as a quite varied metal with a bit clean, yet powerful voice from the vocalist Tommi Niemi. This demo that we received is called Second Symptom and was recorded in early 2005 and was mixed at the Astia Studio with Anssi Kippo as engineer. Unfortunately my copy which was sent from the band wasn't in the best condition, so two of the songs haven't even been considered in this review.

I would say that Ikinaes second release is well produced with a very great sound, the guitars are extremely metal, I guess that's the best description. The music is kind of same as on the Lucky Seven mini cd. Perhaps there are some parts of the songs that feel more fresh and harder, but still the music has many different styles that sometimes don't feel like they are in harmony to each other. Sometimes there are quite good parts that make you think of the bay area style, with really heavy riffings and arrangements, and sometimes there is the more pro-german style like Blind Guardian as an example.

A talented band of quite young musicians that I think could really get more out of their music if they put more harmony to it and straighten it out a bit. More forward instead of going sideways so to speak. As for now there are to many ingredients in the music.
