Union Mac is a Swedish two-man project with Kristoffer
Lagerström from Spin Gallery and Mikael Klevengård which
in comparison with Kristoffer must be considered as a newcomer in these
areas. These two guys found each other in a mutual project called "Mixtur"
which was a production group created for writing, producing and placing
songs in different events. Union Mac is the result of the songs they
wrote together after this project.
Musically Union Mac balances between hard rock and melodic
rock with touches of AOR. The emphasis is set on melodies and efficient
arrangements. It's no doubt about that we are dealing with highly capable
musicians and the outcome breathes quality in that area. The album has
almost all the ingredients you could ask for in this genre but, as the
case is often nowadays, I'm not that impressed by the song writing.
Sure, the album is very even and no fillers can be found but the big
highlights that really grab you are quite rare.
The album consists of 13 songs slightly above average
without any killers. Bring Me In and I Can't Believe do their best to
prove me wrong but even if they are really good it's not enough to change
my final judgement. This won't recruit listeners from other genres but
the diehard fans of melodic rock should check this out.
