Power metal from an early age with a harder edge. If you haven't heard of this band I suggest that you immediately runs to the record store and pick Livin´ In Hysteria up. It is the third album from Heavens Gate and it was with this album all the pieces fell into place. Musically you could say that Heavens Gate is somewhere in-between of the old Helloween's fast pace melodic metal and Judas Priest rougher edge and guitar-playing.

Something that all of the tracks has in common is the strength, the songs are so strong that you can feel the power in your spine while you're listening.
This is straightforward powermetal with great melodies and in some of the tracks you find sing-along choruses that are pure adrenaline raisers.

Thomas Rettke is an excellent vocalist and has a powerful and interesting voice that suits this music perfectly, he is also responsible for all the lyrics. The music is written by Rettke along with the two talented guitarists Bonny Bilski and Sascha Paeth, and the guitarsolos and harmonies is really brilliant. Sascha Paeth is nowadays a well renounced producer and has produced bands like: Angra, Epica, Kamelot, Shaman, Rhapsody and Luca Turilli as well as the later albums with Heavens Gate.

Heavens Gate made another three albums after Livin´ In Hysteria, and there is many great songs on those, but none of them is in no way near of matching up with this one, there isn't a weak spot to find on Livin´ In Hysteria. I don't know how much other bands have been influenced by Heavens Gate, but if you listen to Hammerfall for example you can hear many similarities in the music.
