Remixed and remastered re-issue of Deep Purple (Overseas) Live Series. This is the first release in a series of ten live albums to be released and Live In Paris 1975 was guitarist Ritchie Blackmore's last Deep Purple gig in the seventies, before he left to form Rainbow.

With mainly material from the Coverdale albums Burn and Stormbringer, as well as from the masterpiece Machine Head, this album really shows what Deep Purple live was at that time. I feel that there are too many and too long solos in songs, like for instance You Fool No One and the brilliant studio track, Space Truckin', but again, this is Deep Purple. Nothing that bothers me as with many screaming and brain dead solos nowadays and no one can say that they don't perform with brilliance and with elegance. This album is also recorded when Coverdale still could use his vocal cords live and not sound like that crow he does in later years.

Without Jon Lord's loud organ, or rather if it was mixed at a lower volume, this album would have received an even higher rating. I know that I will be tarred and feathered by the die-hard fans and I know that many fans think his work is essential, but I think it's too loud here and his keys drown the other instruments to some extent and I remember having that feeling when I saw him live as well. Nonetheless, this is in fact a great live album, so 8 chalices to Live In Paris 1975.
