This album was originally released in 1999 but due to the generosity of Mausoleum Records it is now made available again. John Corabi and Bruce Kulick got together after they where done in their previous bands Mötley Crüe respectively Kiss and formed the band Union. Live At The Galaxy was the album that followed their self-titled debut, and it might seem an odd choice to deliver a live album after only one studio effort but apparently they felt that a live album would do the band more justice than what they managed to with their debut.

To me Union is one of those bands heard of but never heard, and from what I can tell this ought to be a fairly good introduction to the band. The sound of Union is very American and very much a good example of the time when the songs where written. Groovy low-tuned hard rock and not much of extravagances but more a basic hard rock sound with a blend of groovy riffs and catchy melodies. The guitar work is in my opinion better than the songwriting with Union and the guys offer some good soul filled playing that spice up the otherwise slightly plain songs. Beside some heavy and groovy riffing, they fill the songs with a more bluesy approach with the guitar as well as some nice and intriguing leads and guitar lines.

Union also has a great deal of the Seattle grunge in their sound and early Pearl Jam can somewhat be heard as well as some Alice In Chains groove and Soundgarden heaviness. The sound of the album is good and gives the concert away as it would have been held in a small and intimate club. The performance comes out as tight and well sounding but it goes on pretty much in the same pace and it never really gets going, and to me the songs leave more to wish for. Live At The Galaxy is a good live album and probably a good introduction to Union but also an introduction that I personally perhaps could have manage just as well without.
