Germany's heavy metallers Grave Digger's new studio release, Clash Of The Gods, will see the light of day on August 24th. Until then we'll have to settle with the teaser (or "Hey, we're about to release a new album, so let's do some PR with this EP to get people's attention") Home At Last.

Three midtempo studio tracks and also three live songs, taken from the 2011 release The Clans Are Still Marching, recorded at Wacken Open Air in 2010. The opener and title track, Home At Last is heavy with an epic and catchy chorus. Rage Of The Savage Beast sounds like Hammerfall's Riders Of The Storm in the opening minute and is a bit dull. The riffing is cool as always, but I can see why this is a non-album track.

The second non-album track is the Wacken hymn Metal Will Never Die. A song with an AC/DC-inspired guitar and somewhat cheesy lyrics. All typical Grave Digger songs, but none of them really knocks me out.

It's Grave Digger to one hundred percent, but it doesn't reach their high standards and I'm not impressed with this release, as my expectations were and are high when it comes to the soon three decades heavy metal veterans. Anyway, it's just an EP and I truly believe the best is yet to come in about four weeks.
