Aggregate is not doing it harder than it should be. It
is old school thrash with a bit of death metal groove. It is all about
love and honour for what used to be and what will probably stay forever.
The riffs are not revolutionary, but pounding in the classic vein. Jocke's
deep throat vocals could have been more varied and - depending a bit
on personal taste - melodic.
Over to the songs, Hate is a fast, aggressive crusher
with all the elements of tradition, such as slower middle parts. Flame
Of Death is a bit slower with some kind of clean vocals in the chorus.
I'm not sure if that fits the attitude. The parade continues with a
groovy and dark piece called Burning Alive.
Next following is Mental Mortality, a mix of all the above
with; fast, groovy, slow, aggressive parts and some clean choirs - though
not reaching the level of personal favourites. Why Me is yet another
groovy thrasher, while closing Bloodland leans more to death metal with
several tempo shifts. I like the really fast and the really groovy parts
almost alike.
Feel The Pain is the kind of record you like when you
listen to it. Aggregate is the kind of band that you would check out
live if the possibility arises nearby - and they will probably bring
a lot of extra energy on stage. But to reach out one step further, to
the 'broader' metal audience, there need to be a bit more of everything.
'Good' and 'great' must turn into 'excellent' and 'wow'.
