With Execution from Tribuzy we will have no choice but to add them as another high-rank band that comes from Brazil. Renato Tribuzy who is the brain behind it all is also the frontman in the Brazilian band Thoten, which I have failed to hear about before and as far as I have found out their only release consists of Beyond The Tomorrow from 2001. Sometimes you take a chance and it turns out to be a lucky one, as was the case with Execution by Tribuzy for me. I had heard about this project but not knowing what I could expect I picked this album up and I am glad that I decided to walk into that record store at just that given moment and that I spotted this album.

My mind drifts toward the sound of Halford's albums with the heavy head-on opening track Execution before the vocals starts and it sounds more like Brainstorm with the heavy music combined with the melody lines. The voice from Renato Tribuzy also have some strong resemblances with Andy B. Franck (Brainstorm, Symphorce) as well as, I suppose, Bruce Dickinson is a source of inspiration for this Brazilian with his singing. The style of the music is simply heavy metal with a modern heavy touch and with a melodic sense, and combined with the Brainstorm influences there are just as much influences to be found from Bruce Dickinson's later solo albums as well as from Rob Halford's album Crucible. This is really great heavy metal and it comes with a thick and heavy sound and a great production as if it would have been done by Roy Z (Halford, Dickinson, Helloween etc.). But it is Renato Tribuzy himself that is credited as producer and although bits and pieces are recorded in different studios in different parts of the world by different people, you can't tell even when knowing.

Divine Disgrace is a track with a strong Halford resemblance and features Kiko Loureiro (Angra) on guitar as in several tracks and the guitar playing is really likable on this album. As a real metal album should, it contains screaming guitar solos, melodic leads, tasteful harmonies and some raw riffing, and even if it is tough and hard it still sounds soft and melodic. It might sound strange but there is a really good balance here, and some really strong song material. Web Of Life comes out like a power metal track while others like Execution and the closing track Aggressive has more of a thrash vibe to them. So far so good and up to this point this is a really good album, but then I have kept the best parts from you. The guest list is impressive and for me a pure delight: Michael Kiske and Bruce Dickinson on the same album is awesome in my ears and that on an album that is already sounding good. Absolution with a duet between Kiske and Tribuzy starts slowly and my first thought is; well, at least I get to hear the voice of Kiske even if it is a ballad. So wrong I could be, after the calm start and a mid-tempo section with a catchy chorus the action starts in a song that also features Roland Grapow (ex-Helloween, Masterplan) on guitar. It is the most complex song on the album and to hear Kiske sing with full lungs alongside with heavy riffing in this ten minute song with some furious guitar parts is the absolute highlight on this album.

Beast In The Light with shared vocal duties with Bruce Dickinson sounds just like it was picked out of one of Bruce's solo album. A straight forward and no fuzz track that is lifted by the voice from Bruce and the guitars from Roy Z and Kiko Loureiro. It really isn't anything out of the ordinary but it has something special that makes it one of the better tracks on the album. I feel like I could go on forever about this album but will end with Nature Of Evil. It is a track that goes along in mid-tempo written by Mat Sinner (Sinner, Primal Fear) and Axel Beyrodt (Silent Force) and it sounds very much like Primal Fear. Once again with shared vocals, this time between Tribuzy and Sinner with backing vocals from Ralf Scheepers (ex-Gamma Ray, Primal Fear) that gives it some nice depth.

Execution from Tribuzy would still have been a solid album without the guests and their contributions. Although I can't avoid the facts that it is those tracks with guests appearances that make me raise my eyebrows the most, even if all of the songs are of a very even and more important, of a very high quality straight through.

Summary

9 chalices of 10 - Thomas

Great riffs most of the time, but the songs themselves will not stick at all with me. There are no real killer songs here, but instead a lot that kind of hangs in no man's land and does not end up anywhere really. It is quite ordinary metal and nothing that blows my mind. I am not especially fond of the vocals either. //Tommy (5,5 of 10)
