Originally born back in 1988, US band Sathanas has a very long career behind them. Pioneers of that time and still today holding on to the principles of an american form of old school black metal with a touch of god old thrash. The sound of Sathanas and the way they play can best be described as a more authentic version of all those new band trying to capture the vibes of early 90's. With the hellish voice from Paul Tucker, backed up by the darker screams from Bill Davidson, this trio that also includes drummer Jim Strauss (ex. Acheron) manage really well to give us cold, harsh and diabolical blackened thrash metal.

Entering The Diabolical Trinity feels very primitive and raw in its sound, recorded at Innertube studios by Nick Kucel. Primitive in a chosen way to make the music's message fair, I guess. Shortly I would say that Entering The Diabolical Trinity sounds very honest and real at least in its style and the way the songs are built. Here are no silly arrangements apart from what's needed. Very straight forward with verses and refrains that go hand in hand together with a solo part here and there. Very traditional. The songs are varied and even though this band can't be accused of contributing with new ideas to the genre, I think it's quite diverse with good tempo changes. The mid tempo parts are filled with so much metal that this must be considered as a good substitute when you are fed up with bands like Aura Noir and Desaster to name a few.

Sometimes I admit that the intensity could be better, but I keep coming back to that authentic feeling that Sathanas summons, it feels genuine and real in a way that - well, let say that it doesn't strike you every day. Serious head banging tracks of worship like Triumph Of Darkness and Into The Massacre are difficult to find these days. I imagine that this must be exactly what US deathsters Incantation would sound like if they had moved further out in the outskirts on the left hand path.

That was the positive aspects according to this album. The negative ones are the sound, which I think is a bit thin and all the cool bass lines that surround the razor sharp guitars disappear and don't make the sound picture just. I think that the engineering on bass and drums could be a bit fatter without destroying the old and genuine feeling. Apart from that the album works just fine, very metal so to speak, marked by the Devil...
