Naturally I have really been looking forward to see the
light of day of this new effort, practically since these German metallers
undoubtedly left a huge impression on me personally and struck me quite
hard last year with its The Awakening album. An album which to some
degree, just similar to Dreamchaser in fact, actually seems to belong
in an already worn out period of metal music, but in spite of that had
a number of key points to hard-earned success in this tuneful type of
music and I really believe that these guys delivered the mail and didn't
have to stay in the basement any further.
Even though this new release may seem a little more mature
and also includes a few more heavy moments than its predecessor, the
final result is still youthful and it pretty much end up in the same
kind of vein eventually. Victorius often plays a speedy version of power
metal, yet with vocals that on the whole stay more in a peaceful area
with less tempo involved. The songs are generally really melodic and
full of catchy hooks and the captivating factor is a massive element
which definitely addresses to fans who are suckers for melodies based
on fast music.
The band isn't quite able to repeat the awesome outcome
heard on The Awakening, basically because the songs at the end of the
day don't quite come out with the same captivating effect. I must however
point out that I chiefly enjoy what's delivered, although my praises
of the band are coming out a tad more modest at this point. Anyway,
Victorius has certainly put out a good record which in my book has earned
7 chalices and I absolutely give this outfit the green lights again.
