Scenes is a progressive band from Germany, which after a couple of demo releases now is ready to take on the world with their debut album titled Call Us At The Number You Provide! The band is promoted to do music in the style of Dream Theater and Evergrey, and even if I don't disagree with that, I would say that they are much closer of bands like Threshold and Tiles.

Melodic and progressive are the two keywords to describe Scenes. Sometimes they go along the heavier way, while other times they let their music float away with a soft and calm surrounding. It gets obvious pretty fast that they are very well acquainted with their instruments since it's all performed greatly. With the guitars they blend heavy riffing with solo parts and harmonies that allows you drift away with their music, and some of the guitar lines are in likeness with some keyboard lines absolutely brilliant. The track Start again gives you a dose of everything that this kind music is about and proves that Scenes are very much capable of complex songwriting and of making it work.

The fact that they keep their music well balanced and not letting it get carried away even though they take their instruments on field trips further demonstrates Scenes of being a competent band. The bands' former vocalist Nektarios Bamiatzis, a finalist of the German version of "Fame Academy/ Pop Idols", is taking the lead in two of the tracks here. And of the two singers, two very good singers by the way, I have to say that Nektarios is a little better, but they are not that far from each other. Nektarios voice is a little clearer and goes along just a little better with the music.
